The Sweden Democrats appear to place a higher priority on stopping deportations and welcoming immigrants (Sweden Democrats, n.d.-b). As a result, the party opposes any additional engagement with the EU whether it comes to raising the budget or joining the Eurozone (Sweden Democrats, n.d.-a). After Brexit, the Sweden Democrats increasingly tempered their opposition to EU membership, despite their 2014 manifesto (Bolin, 2015) that called for a renegotiation of Sweden's EU membership (The Local, 2019). One could argue that their desire to maintain their Swedish identity fuels their moderate Euroskepticism. Additionally, it bases itself on the Sweden Democrats' prioritising of tighter management of Swedish border controls in an effort to reduce the country's immigration flow.
